Better colors with higher resolution?

#1 Post by JerzeeDevil » Tue Feb 02, 2010 10:09 pm

Do colors get better if a monitor's resolution is increased? Will a smaller screen of the same resolution provide better colors as well as sharper text? For example, will colors be more vibrant on my T43 with 1400x1050 compared to 1280x1024? If there are more pixels, my guess, and I mean guess, is that the colors could be improved.

Screen quality is the key here.

Higher resolution does help - or at least doesn't hurt - on a good quality screen.

Consequently, bad screen with a high resolution is even less palatable than the lower-resolution one.

About the only thing that you can control for any given LCD panel is to increase the color depth (or quality) or play around with the display driver's gamma settings, if available. Color depth is usually 16 or 32 bits; with 32 being the best at showing graphics using the broadest range of colors but at the expense of adding to the workload of the graphics chip.
