Back from Italy - (admin edit: LOTS of BIG photos)

#1 Post by ThinkPad » Wed Feb 23, 2005 2:41 am

I just got back from my trip to Italy. Overall it was a great trip, except on my way back. My flight from Trieste to Milan was cancelled. I was suppose to fly from Milan to Chicago. So that started a domino effect. I was then routed to Rome, then fly to New York, then Chicago. I take the flight from Rome to NewYork. Then I find out my Chicago flight has beed cancelled. So I am now re-outed from New York to Atlanta to Chicago at 6 am the next day and upgraded to first class, so I check in a hotel. The other problem was that I was carring time sensitive materials on me so I had to be in Chicago sunday afternoon.

I arrived at my gate at 5:30am and the [censored] girl at the gate said I cannot board because im booked for economy and I have to get new boarding passes. (desk is 20 mins away) I tried to tell her that I was upgraded to first class but she wouldnt budge. So I miss that flight and finally squeeze in an evening flight which arrived last night.

Italy is a great place. If you anyone gets a chance to go there you wont be disappointed. People there are really friendly in general. The food is great, but when I ate food at a restaurant, they serve small amounts of food, which im not used to. Im used to getting big steak dinners, over there people dont eat much. That probably exaplains why there are no fat people there. Everyone is pretty much fit. Price of water and a glass of wine is the same, so I was buzzing most of the time. You cant drink tap water.

Venice is even better, great place to take your girl. The only form of transportation is by boat, they have public stations which take your form place to place. Like the public bus, except in water. As usual the food is good there too, but I think it would have been better if it was summer time. It took one of the personalal boat rides, thought I think its a bit pricey (50 euros) its something you have to do when you go there.

With the recent trips I made I came up to this conclusion

London<USA<Italy

Anyways enough talk here are the pics

Was a digital camera used to take those pics - they are gorgeous quality! Which camera did you use, if you don' t mind me asking?
