X41T freezes when coming out of standby

Often when I come out of standby, it won't and the screen will stay off while the indicator lights show that it's not under standby mode anymore and the power light is on. There seems to be no way to get the system back up without doing a hard power down and powering back up.
This happens to me quite often.
I'm using windows 7.
What's going on?

Remove the memory module then see if it behaves the same.
