external LCD for T41p

#1 Post by ashat » Thu Feb 04, 2010 6:43 pm

Sorry for one more post on my almost-dying CCFL T41p :)

Just to be prepared to when my CCFL will go dark definetively I would like to buy an external LCD, (I don't have currently any desktop monitor here at home) to turn this old T41p on a "for desktop-use" pc.

I am almost convinced to look for a 1680x1050 monitor (any suggestion on model/brand will be appreciated :)

Should any monitor like this work with this 2374-GGG T41p or is there any possibility that the video card will not handle a wide LCD at that resolution?

Is there any operation on the "video card settings" that I should do _before_ the CCFL get completely dark, so that on day X I will just have to plug the monitor, power on the laptop and see the desktop on the external monitor?

If you see no output on an external monitor, simply press the Fn-F7 key combination at least twice.

Make sure that external monitor is enabled in BIOS.

Thanks.
There will be surely no problem with the wide format of the LCD?

1680x1050 is no problem.
