Sounds to me like there is a proprietary signal sent from the 135w supply that says "OK, he paid a hundred bucks to us for this, so let it work."

Lenovo posted a new BIOS (1.24-1.13) that adds an option to disable the warning for an unsupported AC adapter.

Dfgalletta, can you test yours 120W adapter with the new BIOS?
I also would like to buy an adaptor, as small as possible... Is it significantly smaller and lighter then the original one? Thanks

Dell BIOS have always had the option of disabling the warning. Your laptop will still run slowly. I see nothing to dispute this in the Lenovo release notes.

120 W? I thought we had 65 / 90 & 135 (for W510)... ? Is there some kinda slim 120 W adapter that works better for a W510 vs the 90W travel adapter..?
