Intel Centrino Ultimate N 6300 AGN on My New T410

#1 Post by gzlatin » Fri Feb 05, 2010 1:40 pm

I just got my T410 2 days ago and so far it's pretty sweet. This is the first Lenovo i've ever owned and so far I like it a lot.

The only problem I'm having is with the Network card. I got the Intel Centrino Ultimate N 6300 AGN and it works great in my house (I have a netgear 108Mbs router) but the other day when i went to a friends house i couldn't get a wifi internet connection through his router. I tried every which way to connect to it and other people had no problems connecting to it but I couldn't get a good signal. It would go in and out for a few seconds sometimes which was weird. I could download an email or two in outlook but the rest wouldn't download.

Of course when I came back home later that day it was working perfectly again. Does anyone know why that might be happening? Could it be because he has an older router and it's not working with my newer network card because the wifi technology is different or something? I'm out of ideas. I hope it's not an issue with my card.

Basically, there are lots of older routers out there which cut corners in implementing whatever the 802.11 specifications of the day were, and are now throwing up issues as newer 802.11 implementations come along which actually need to use something or other from the older specifications that wasn't implemented properly in the router.

Cheers,
