help~x61t can't turn on wifi under win7

#1 Post by magic1986wang » Sat Feb 06, 2010 7:00 am

hi, everybody.
Using fn+F5, i can get access to the wireless radio, and the icons of 802.11 wireless radio is there, but i can't turn on the wireless radio.
This problem has shown up for times and times again under win7 after I install the Access Connections.

Everytime the situation is like this, after installation win7, everything works fine. After installation of Access Connections, everything still goes fine. When I setup access profiles for my lab (cable) and uni(wirelss), oops, i can NEVER turn on my wireless... The Access Connection always shew i am in my lab even i tried to find wireless network or switch to another profile.

Even i uninstall the Access Connections, the problem still... Sometimes, reinstallation works, but it depends on my luck...

I am really frustrated with this problem :x , as i can't use the wirelss as i like ...
Do you have any ideas~

I would recommend running the Lenovo System Update package because the Access connections software needs more than just itself in order to control your wireless. For example you need the system interface library as well. I usually install all of the updates it prompts for under critical and Access Connections will work great. I use the windows update provided wireless drivers and my Fn+F5 wireless toggle works well, so if this doesn't work maybe check which wireless card you have and post that. The drivers are different for the Atheros and Broadcom based wifi chipsets.

hi, shhhpad
I have updated to the latest Access connection by System Update, and also installed the lastest driver for Intel PRO/wireless 3945ABG ( i am not sure about Atheros or Broadcom ... my type is 7767-59U, on lenovo website, it is said that Intel PRO/wireless 3945ABG )
However, nothing happened, the problem still...
I uninstall the Access connection in Control Pannel, nothing happend. And then, uninstalled the driver in Device Manager. Restarted, win7 installed the driver by itself. Eventually, I can turn on my wifi once again. I think you r right. Both the Access connection and win7 lost the control of the wifi. Maybe the problem is related to system interface library, which i havn't installed, causing the access connection can't take charge of the wifi.
But, right now, i would like to work without Access Connection temporarily. :D
Anyway, thanks for your suggestions.
Cheers
