Using a docking station...

#1 Post by newyorkpaulie » Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:35 pm

I have a T23 (QU5) and run Kubuntu Linux. My docking station is the big one with an Ultrabay slot which I use to hold another HDD. What's the protocol for undocking/re-docking so I can swap the Ultrabay with a different one. I store backups on one and large files on another. I would like to not have to shut down/restart to accomplish this as I am now doing. BTW, I found this method of backing up much faster than using a USB connected external drive.

Put the CD drive in the docking station, and the other HD in its place in the T23.
AFAIK you can hotswap then, as long as you don't boot from the extra drive.
