Wall mounted Thinkpad?

#1 Post by daeojkim » Wed Feb 23, 2005 3:12 pm

I was having this idea on how to use a thinkpad mounted on the wall.
My desk is not deep, i.e. the width is shallow.
Since LCD screen can be opened 180 degrees, may be I can mount the TP on the wall and use a wireless keyboard & mouse.

I wonder if anyone had used a laptop this way before.

I will see if I can do this and post a picure if it works.

I use a wired keyboard (when i need it) and a wired mouse, but I have a 600X mounted this way on one of my boats and a T21 mounted on another, both at the navigation stations.

Somewhere around here there was a photo of a TP mounted to a wall in the International Space Station in that manner. But as I recall some sharp eyed viewer noted that the screen was displaying the "OS not found" error.

I have a stripped down transnote running upright on the wall in my garage to surf the web and run car diagnostics on my ride. The touch screen comes in handy, and the single PCMCIA slot let me run a wireless abg in it to link with the home system and the T40 in my car. I'll see about catching a picture this week when I clean out the garage a little.

A ha!! It looks like this is commonly done.

Hmm I am looking and trying to think how / what should I use to mount on the wall.

I would like to mount and unmount easily.

Hmm..

The 600X is in a Selectabase 600 and the T21 is in a Dock 1, both bolted to a bulkhead.

The Selectabase holds the 600X quite firmly just by itself when it's locked, the T21 has strips of self adhesive velcro on the bottom to augment the Dock's latches.
