hello all
question: a friend dropped his laptop turned to me for help. the motherboard appears to be dead but the hard drive showed signs of life. i popped it into my ultrabay adapter and it worked fine for a while. it reported the amount of data on it, i could copy some files off of it, and otherwise seemed to work ok. when i made a move to go for a larger copy + paste onto my thinkpad HD his hard drive started clicking that feared click and since then i cannot get it even to mount. any ideas? i would like to (at least) get it to mount again to be able to rescue an even minimal number of files. how could it be that it worked fine for a while until i messed it up by going for a large copy + paste? i'd appreciate any ideas.
regards,
alfio

It finally died when you went for the big file. I don't know there's much you can do.alfio wrote:how could it be that it worked fine for a while until i messed it up by going for a large copy + paste?
