What is the best drive Panasonic dvd-ram?

#1 Post by Nicola » Thu Feb 11, 2010 7:21 am

I will to buy the fastest drive Pansonic dvd-ram.
I become crazy to find information. Drive with higher numbers and lower performance. Models that different only by a letter.

P.S.: Panasonic original or IBM (Panasonic)

Please clarify:

Which type of drive? Desktop? Laptop 12mm (Ultrabay Enhanced / R series), Laptop 9mm (Ultrabay Slim / T series)? External?

Any particular reason it has to be Panasonic?

clarify? :-)
forum ThinkPad T4x Series?

ATA (T43 is sata?) 9,5 mm
Panasonic for IBM T4X is "ThinkPad Multi-Burner Ultrabay Slim Drive" but there are many types. And only Panasonic (no logo IBM) many many types.

I will only drive Panasonic for problems of drivers.

All of the media drives are ATA, even on T6x series.

Switch to SATA came with T400/500 and W500 generation...

You don't need drivers, the drive will be automatically recognized by the system if it's compatible.

The fastest one for T4x was the UJ-822 (DVD Multi Burner Plus).

For the T6x (still compatible with T4x) the fastest Panasonic was the UJ-852.

The T6x burners are much better and as noted will work in a T4x. though they don't line up exactly.

No, there are several faster than the 822 and 852, but either are
dvd-ram 5x cd-rw 16x
or are
dvd-ram 3x cd-rw 24x
I will try the fastest. Like now I have in my T23.
Also do not understand why you mention the 822 if we say that the 852 is compatible.

I see the fastest IBM ThinkPad "Multi-Burner Ultrabay Slim Drive" (5x and 24x) but I can not find.

Well, looks like you know better than everyone else here, so it would be nice if you shared the information you have, instead of asking questions, getting answers, then telling us we are wrong.

I believe that the Panasonic Ultrabay Slim drives (9.5mm height or model numbers UJ-8x2) will not be faster than the Ultrabay 2000 drive (12.7mm high or models UJ-8x0) that you may have in your T23. When it comes to laptop optical drives, thinner usually means slower.

Well, that'll knock his translation software for a loop. :) I've used my wife's T61 dvd drive in my T43p, it works fine, as mentioned, just the bezel is shaped differently (for the T61 case) and protrudes along the bottom edge.

The fastest Thinkpad PATA drive is 24x cd-rw.
I see in the past when I don't have a T42. Now I have a T42 and I don't find this model.
