T400 vs T410 ?

#1 Post by prince_kassad14 » Thu Feb 11, 2010 9:57 am

Hi All
is really the improvements in the T410 deserve that the T400 owners take step to T410 or even think about it ?

i want to make practical comparison between both machines from the most important aspects as follow

1- build quality ( any flexes any where ?)
2- keyboard
3- screen
4- performance ( yes the I3 , I5 and I7 is faster but in comparison to the T400's processors , is it so bad ? )
5- battery ( and this is very important for who misses the switchable graphic in the T410 , is there is a big difference in the battery life between the 2 machines ( 9 cell for both )?
6- multimedia ( video quality , sound quality ,etc...)
7- overall looking and portability
8- price

the maximum mark is 10
you can give the reply in this form , for example :

1- build quality : T400 = 8.5 T410 = 9 ( and any comments sure you are welcomed )
2- Keyboard : T400 = 9 T410 = 9.5
and so on ...
really we want this post to be useful for who are thinking to order one from the both laptops .

thank you so much and waiting the experts and owners reply

For T400 LED is 250 lit, T410 LED is 220 lit.

14" T400 has LCD rollcage, 14" T410 does not.

T410 has (much) more powerful cpu and slightly better integrated graphics.

Can somebody confirm that T410 doesn't support ultrabay battery anymore??

410 does have rollcage and it does not support the old ultrabay.

Let me clarify. 14" T410 DOES NOT have LCD rollcage, and the LCD cover is made of plastic. It does have bottom rollcage to protect the motherboard.

I believe 15" T410 does have some sort of LCD rollcage and bottom rollcage.

But if you know otherwise, please prove me wrong.

1. As was mentioned, the LCD rollcage is gone from the T410. How much difference it makes remains to be seen.

2. Keyboard layout has been changed on the T410 - Esc/Del keys are larger, Ins and Function keys have been slightly offset to accommodate that. Some like it, some don't. As far as keyboard support and sturdiness goes, reports are that it is better on T410.

3. Same junk.

4. CPUs are naturally faster in T410. It's actually a whole new architecture, and a good one. Won't be a deal breaker most of the time.

5. Big improvement in the T410, imo. First, the 6cell battery sits plush and doesn't stick out. Second, the 9cell battery sticks out far less than it did before, and is actually compatible with the T510/W510 battery. Third, and most important, the 9cell battery has more capacity than before (94Wh compared to 84Wh).

6. Dunno about quality, but at least the T410 has both VGA and Displayport on the chasssis, whereas T400 had only VGA. It also has eSATA.

7. IMO, T410 looks much better than the ugly T400 with the offset screen and WiFi antennae ridges in the LCD front bezel, and the protruding battery. Weight should be the same. However, T410 is a bit thicker.

There's no such thing as 15" T410. You probably meant a T510.
