T60 with XGA screen?

#1 Post by brucehe » Sun Feb 14, 2010 9:12 pm

I am migrating from T42's to T60's. I currently have 2 t60's one with X1300 graphics and the other with X1400 graphics both with SVGA screens.

I need one to be a XGA screen since my wife cannot read the higher resolution screen that I enjoy and we want to share one docking station.

My plan is to acquire another T60 and sell the one with X1300 graphics. Upon researching T60's with XGA graphics it seems like most have integrated Intel graphics rather than ATI discrete graphics. Will there be any noticeable difference with the Intel graphics? Can I find a T60 with XGA screen and ATI graphics? She does not use the machine for much else other than email and Internet access and watching video. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Bruce

Quite a few of T60 machines sported both ATi X1300 and XGA LCDs. As a matter of fact, you'll be able to find - if you look hard enough - for just about any configuration with either ATi or Intel graphics, since both XGA and SXGA+ were available with either in 14" format.

Intel graphics will give you better battery life and a cooler running machine, though.

Unless you play games, I doubt you would notice the difference. The integrated models are cheaper, use a lot less power and run cooler, therefore, they last longer. As a disclaimer, I have a nice one listed in the marketplace section, so I might be prejudiced.
