need new video card?

i have a problem with the display on my ibm thinkpad t40. its an older computer, its in great shape but has been used a lot. i think perhaps the video card has just burned out. can someone help me diagnose the problem? also, if the video card needs replacing, does anyone have a suggestion for a decent compatible video card? this is the only screen i can get it to display:

Your image file can't be seen at all, but video card can't be replaced per se, you'd have to swap the motherboard or...

Yes, it does look like the video chip needs to be re-flowed. The two options ajkula66 linked are the fix.
