restore from f11 option a31p

#1 Post by housedl » Mon Feb 15, 2010 11:43 pm

i some how have misplaced my recovery cd which i have been keeping for the last 9 years or so...

so i tried to restore my thinkpad a31p 2653-h5u from the f11 recovery option.
it did a nice clean install of windows without ANY ibm software or applications.

now if i had wanted a nice clean install of xp then i would have to have jumped through 1000 hoops to get it, but i wanted it back to factory condition with all the ibm bloatware and other crap in place.

the funny thing is i have a folder called c:/ibmwork

some other posts told me that this may be an indicator of a restore that did not complete. if this is the case i have no idea how to complete it. since it just boots to windows and sits there.

it has been along time since i have seen an install of xp that only had 22 processes running.. lol

modded a31p includes
2.6ghz processor
intel 2915abg card running generic intel drivers 90439.

how do i get my hard drve back to the factory condition without restore cds?

is there any way to read the restore and recovery partion to see exactly what it contains.. i know it is about 5gigs..

thanks

I don't have a direct answer to your question(s) but will be more than happy to burn you a set of recovery media for A31p should everything else fail...just drop me a PM.

Good luck.

update

i read this on some post before with regards to win98 se.

after hitting f11 you go into the recovery program and select the way you want it restored.
with my particular recovery program you only have one option, complete factory reset. then it reboots then you have to hit f11 doing this reboot then it starts to run the batch file.. it is good to see the old ibm timezone map and adobe reader 5.0.. lol

i wish it was that easy to go back in time.. i bet i could have won state..
