T23 recovery

#1 Post by kengeo » Tue Feb 16, 2010 2:06 pm

I have just aquired a T23 1.2g cpu. 1 gRam (2647 5SG). It fires up with no problems, but it has windows 2000 & XP installed which has to be selected atstartup. It also has a number of programs that I don't require. My question is that if I invoke the 'Restore' program to clear all the junk will it remove the XP, which I can only guess was an update? I do not have a XP disk. The reason for reinstall is because it's slower than my T21 800mhz 256mh Ram. I intend to replace the T21 with the T23 which should be quicker plus the 'Wi-Fi' works a treat.

Yes. "Restore" will format the hard drive (erase it, sort of), removing everything including the install of XP Win2K, and all applications and data that has been added. Then it will re-install Win2K as it was when the system was new. That is, if the recovery partition is still intact as it was originally.

Thanks for the quick answer Neil, it seems that I need to dispense with the restore idea, format the drive & get a XP disk. I hope
'System Update' is still available to scan the installation & install the necessary drivers as I did with my T21 some years ago. Cheers.
