Hi,
I'm trying to decide between a T60 and T60P, both with flexview displays. From the little bit of searching I've done it seems like:
T60
+Runs cooler with the ATI x1*00 gfx cards
-Only 1400x1050 resolution
T60P
+Supports 1600x1200 resolution
-Runs hotter with the ATI v52*0
Are there any other key issues at play here that I'm missing (e.g. do the GPUs from one line have a better track record of reliability, etc). Do you guys have a preference for one machine over the other, and for what reasons? Right now I'm leaning toward the T60P for the better resolution. Thanks for your responses,
Marcus

Re: T60 vs T60P Flexview/GPU Heat Questions
I personally prefer the 1400x1050. For the tasks I do, 1600x1200 will not have much extra benefit, but the extra eye strain may be noticeable. So I chose the T60 non-P.
Current: X220 4291-4BG, T410 2537-R46, T60 1952-F76, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G
Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad
Past: Z61t 9440-A23, T60 2623-D3U, X32 2884-M5U

Re: T60 vs T60P Flexview/GPU Heat Questions
I have both T60 and T60P in flexview. Both are SXGA+.
The T60P does run a bit hotter but not much - also if you use tpfancontrol you can quiet it even further.
Another thing is that not all t60s/p's are not created equal some just are more quiet and run less hot even when the specs are the same. I have never figured out the reason but it just is...
For me i'd recommend t60p for faster graphics... in the long run it will serve you well - video wise etc.
Def. for me also SXGA+ is a great size fontwise.

Re: T60 vs T60P Flexview/GPU Heat Questions
It all depends on what you need, really...
If it's the graphics horsepower, then your answer is T60p. With the power comes heat, at least in my experience.
If it's average daily use, T60 will do just fine.
Most people (myself not included) prefer SXGA+ over UXGA on a 15" LCD, but unless you've actually used both no one can say what will work better for you.
Of course, you could throw in a UXGA LCD in a standard T60 shell and have a cooler-running FrankenPad...
