T61p Sound Issues with Windows 7

#1 Post by Rofflesaurrr » Thu Feb 18, 2010 5:23 pm

Every 30 seconds or so when I'm listening to music or watching a video, the speakers will emit a short popping, distortion, or crackle sound. I have Windows 7 64-bit and the latest drivers downloaded from Lenovo's website. I get this sound on my digital audio workstation when the CPUs are under an extremely heavy load, but I don't think that's the case here. I've even reinstalled Windows 7 and it didn't change anything. Should I try downloading a generic, newer version of the AD1984 audio drivers?

Try installing the Intel Matrix Storage Manager from intel.

Welcome to the Thinkbad club.

The problem you're experiencing is known to many t61 users.

Check out the huge thread at lenovo forums and check whether this is really your issue:

I would recommend installing all Intel drivers directly from the Intel website and generally using the latest ones.
