Use X301 recovery disks for X200t???

#1 Post by andre#4 » Sat Feb 20, 2010 5:20 pm

I installed win7 in my x200t. Clean install. I have now spent 8 hours putting back drivers for all my lenovo apps that i like. I am not done yet. It takes a long time because of my slow internet connection.

It just occurred to me. Couldn't I just put in my X301 recovery disks? That machine came with win7 home premium and all lenovo drivers installed. I was hoping to use the win7 product key from the win7 that I bought for the x200t. I haven't used the key yet. They said I had 30 days.

Would there be a problem with this? I thought not, since the tablet functionality is in windows 7 home premium anyway. the few tablet specific drivers that are not in the x301 decovery media would be easy to download because they are few and small. The x301 has a dvd drive, the x200t has none. The x200t has a sd card reader and pc card slot, the x301 doesn't. The x301 has a camera , the x200t doesn't.

Any thoughts??

I can't remember which of my ThinkPads I was recently trying to upgrade to Windows 7, -- it may have been my X301 or maybe my X200 because I did get the upgrade accomplished for both -- but I seem to remember trying to use the restore DVD's from one for the other -- I just kept getting the message "wrong disk -- please insert disk number yadda...yadda..." -- so I ended up doing a reformat with the upgrade disk and downloading drivers from lenovo --

Someone with more experience may have better info
