Windows XP Pro as a snappy local file/printer server *PIC*

#1 Post by system-log » Sun Feb 21, 2010 3:15 am

If you have a classic IBM NetVista P4 and a copy of Windows XP Pro laying around, why not make the use of it? I have made a how-to in three parts while transforming a IBM NetVista from a dusty desktop computer into a useful file/printer-server running Windows XP Pro (!!).

Multi-purpose fileserver! [how-to] – part 1 : http://system-log.com/?p=48
Multi-purpose fileserver! [how-to] – part 2 : http://system-log.com/?p=86
Multi-purpose fileserver! [how-to] – part 3 : http://system-log.com/?p=345

Have fun setting up your own local network with ThinkPad clients and preferable a IBM classic as a server :thumbs-UP:

Updated with another screencast showing how to install Wamp + Joomla on our fileserver. This makes it possible to host a website from home :)
