Lenovo warranty resellers...

#1 Post by ytumadretambien » Mon Feb 22, 2010 7:24 pm

I recently purchased a X301 (which I love, btw), and am looking to buy ADP for it. While looking around I found a variety of websites that also sell what seems to be lenovo warranties for a much lower cost than what lenovo is quoting me (ex. http://www.pcsuperstore.com/products/G4 ... C9336.html). My questions are as follows:

1) Are these legit?
2) Are they actually serviced by Lenovo, or some other company?
3) How do they work anyways? i.e. Do I purchase the warranty from the website and then call Lenovo to apply it?
4) Is anybody willing to share their previous experience with buying lenovo warranties from other sellers?

Thanks!
X301 - C2D SU9400 (1.4ghz), 4GB DDR3, Intel X18-M G2 , W7 64bit

As long as they are authorized Lenovo Partners, there should be no problem. However, your part number indicates that it is the 4 years warranty uplift, including Thinkpad protection (ADP - Accidental Damage Protection). As far as I can remember, ADP uplift has to be purchased within 90 days of your original purchase date of the notebook. Furthermore, there is no pro-rating of warranty coverage. This mean if you purchase a 4 years uplift after 60 days of purchase, the warranty is extended to 4 years from the original purchase date, NOT 4 years from your purchasing the uplift. You should also make sure the uplift part number can be used on your system. Lenovo partners are provided with a huge chart to determine which specific model uses which part number for what uplift.
