T410s screen issue

#1 Post by not_happy » Wed Feb 24, 2010 8:22 am

I haven't had my T410s very long but it is already having issues. There is a vertical band about 1.5 inches wide running down the just left of center of my screeen making everything fuzzy within the band. Is anybody else having this problem? Any idea what it is?

I'm not happy. :(

I have no idea, but I bet that Lenovo does. It's so new that it must still be under warranty. Give them a call.

Yep, time to call Lenovo.

On a brighter note, you are the first person I am aware of who actually has a T410s in their hands. Want to share some impressions and/or photos?

Well, it's hard to be overly excited about a product when you are having a screen issue within 2 weeks of receiving it. However, before that issue, I was reasonably satisfied. The biggest con was the quality of the screen which I realize is a constant complaint of Lenovo. It didn't look anybody than my old Dell that was mediocre at best when I bought it 5 years ago. Some of the keys on the keyboard weren't very responsive (particulary the space bar and the mute button).

On a positive note, it started very fast and ran pretty cool (I have a solid state drive).

Yes, unfortunately in all aspects other than power consumption and brightness, most modern laptop screens are no better if not worse than their predecessors. Sorry that you are having problems with the machine, I know that sucks especially when you've been waiting for it a long time.

To confirm, it is actually a T410s? Honestly, you are the first person I have heard of anywhere to actually get one of these - not even review sites have them yet.

Hahaha, funny the amount of hope and skepticism that has tinged recent posts related to the T410s. We now want to see, no we REQUIRE to see model numbers, pictures, and a spectrograph analysis of all components so that we can verify that someone has indeed received a T410s.

Well not_happy, not that we don't really really really want to believe that you have a T410s, but if in fact you do have one, could you do us all a favor and post pictures, details, maybe even a mini review. We of this forum are dying to get real information about these machines. Oh yeah, and please post details that are less vague than the only video review :)

Of course, no hard feelings if it's not either. We'd still love to hear about your experience with your new machine.

Sorry, I tried to post a photo but couldn't figure it out....which is also why you wouldn't want a review from me. I assure you that I have one. If you paypal me $1600, I'll next day air it to you and it can be yours.

Overall, as long as your screen expectations are not high, you'll be happy with the T410s. I looked at a Sony Z Series laptop today and the screen was incredible. Of course, it was also $800 more than the T410s.

Id say faulty inverter/bad LCD. Ive seen similar things happen on old laptops.
