Hello. First post here.
I have a T400 and SL410. Unfortunately I am having the same issue with both. Every time I plug in my blackberry to try and use Desktop Manager I immediately get an unknown MTP Mode error on the blackberry screen and it reboots. I know it has to be a setting on the laptops because I can connect the BB to my desktop and it works just fine. Both laptops and the desktop are running Win 7 x64.
This is a real pain due to the fact I am no longer able to tether my blackberry and use it for internet access.
I have tried deleting all the USB root hubs in device manager and making sure they were not allowed to shut down to save power but none of that seemed to help.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Brannon Gillis
MTP Mode Error
Re: MTP Mode Error
One search result said that vzw updater (Verizon Wireless) can cause this issue. A system restore to a point before the update solved that person's problem.
Here is some other possibly useful information.

Re: MTP Mode Error
Thanks I hadn't seen those links. I don't use Verizon's Access Manager so that couldn't be the problem. I have never used it. This has something to do with a driver or some kinda setting on the USB port that I can't seem to figure out. I have tried disabling MTP mode, compression, and just about everything else. But it still just crashes (the phone) every time I connect it to either laptop. I tested on my wife's Dell XPS420 for kicks and giggles and it works fine there as well. So now I can use it on two desktops just fine but the two Lenovo laptops crash it every time.
Re: MTP Mode Error
Just speculation. If you have Access Connections installed, that might be causing the problem. Also if you happen to have any of the following Lenovo drivers installed, they might be suspect.
Vodafone and Cingular - HSDPA wireless WAN
Verizon Wireless WAN (UNDP)
Ricoh Multi Card reader driver (previously known as Ricoh 4-in-1 Media Card Reader)
SmartCard reader
Again, I am just throwing ideas out there of what I would suspect.
