Some small problems with X60 - win7

#1 Post by pershing » Thu Feb 25, 2010 2:29 pm

Hello, I have a few problems with my x60 running win 7,
1st problem is that when I hibernate and then turn on my x60, backlight turn down- the level 7 of brightness is like level 1 when its normal and it can be lowered to lower level 1. After rebooting is everything ok.

2nd problem is with booting, after I boot any USB key (Linux, utils, etc) when I'm restarting and going back to my win the win boots but the screen is dark. Then I have to power off by button and turn on, after that is everything ok.

3rd problem is about CSS8, It says I couldnt be enrolled, I dont know why, I tried many solutions from this forum but with no success. (restarting and clearing TPM, reinstalling R&R, CSS, many times)

Thanks for help.

No solution for you here, but just a note that I have a somewhat similar issue sometimes with my X60 Tablet running XP SP3 Tablet edition. For me, it happens sometimes when coming out of hibernation when I have more than one account logged in. But I cannot reproduce the symptom with any regularity. I wonder if there is some small bug in the hibernation BIOS code/motherboard/something in the X60 series.

I have the backlight issue if I hibernate/standby while on battery and then awaken the system using the power supply. Unplugging and replugging the power supply fixes the problem. Windows uses additional power saving measures when using the OS power saving profile (lowers backlight, disables Aero...). I don't think it does that when using the Power Manager profiles - I'd have to check.

As for CSS, I can't help you since I haven't reinstalled it after the upgrade. Overall, I'm fairly happy with 7. Most programs I use, incl. Office 2007, work smoother than on XP on my X60. The only downside is the slower startup.

And about hibernation problem - I dont use hibernate since that...but I'll try your solution with pluging it in.
