Partitioning C Drive after Factory restore

#1 Post by fefrie » Fri Feb 26, 2010 6:57 pm

I've restored my t42 hard drive using the Access IBM button on start up, and after it finished, it left me with a 32gb IBM_PRELOAD C: partition, a 5gb IBM_SERVICE partition, which I assume is the recovery partition.

I'd like for there to be a D: partition. There was a D: drive there before, so it's possible. How do I do it.

Would anyone recommend partition magic????

Before it was screwed over by Symantec, yes, Partition Magic was a highly recommended program.
Nowadays, I'd look for Gparted, free on the web.

Would that be partition magic version 1,2, 3? Which version would you recommend?

Hey Great program RBS! Worked like a charm
Now I just need to decide if I want to keep the IBM service partition.

AFAIK PM 8 from Powerquest was the last one before Symantec got its grubby mitts on it.

+1 for Gparted

It's an awesome utility and has helped me though many potentially difficult tasks.

I'm very indecisive with my OS choice, and it allows me to easily remove a partition and redo an OS if I choose to do so

I used Partition Magic 8.

Seemed to work very simply for me.
