Thinkpad running too hot?? 82C / 177F CPU temperature

#1 Post by jwthinkpad » Sun Mar 07, 2010 8:07 am

Just wondering how hot other thinkpads/laptops are running. I was using Speccy (from Piriform, same ppl that makes CCleaner) to checkout my system's (X60 tablet) CPU temperature. It reads 82C / 177F , which is really hot since 100C boils water. It normally fluctuates around 160-170F.

My friend's X60 also runs around same temperature, but my other friend's HP only runs at 45C. Do all thinkpads run this hot? Perhaps it's due to X60's smaller size? Is this temperature range normal?

Speccy used to read the CPU temp: http://www.piriform.com/speccy

That Speccy pgm is still in beta, and may be more geared towards Desktops.
Perhaps try another pgm, like NHC http://www.pbus-167.com/
