T61P half mini PCI-E slot

I have a T61P with an open slot under the keyboard which looks like a half mini PCI-E slot. I believe the wireless USB card would be installed here if your laptop was ordered with this option. I was wondering if anyone successfully installed any other type of card in this slot? I am upgrading by adding a mc8775 wwan card but to do so, I have to remove the 1gb intel turbo memory that came with my laptop. I dont know if the turbo memory significantly added to the performance of my laptop but I was thinking about trying to add a 2gb half mini PCI-E turbo memory card in the open slot meant for the wireless usb. I dont know if this is possible though.

The W500 has a half-sized turbo memory card there. I would guess that any card that fit would work, but I never tried. I tried to run tests on a T61p with and without turbo memory, and I couldn't find a measurable difference

I actually bought a 2GB turbo memory card for the half mini slot. It doesn't work. The BIOS seems to only allows specific cards to be in specific slots. And the only card that will work in the half mini slot is the wireless USB slot. You'd need a hacked BIOS to get it to work.
