Not sure what you think of, I wouldn't use them as my primary source for hi-fi music if you know what I mean...

The X200 has a metal lid (and bottom) that is quite rigid. No flex. Does the X201 have a plastic lid that bends easily?zverg wrote:Also the quality feels like crap compared to my T42.. make sure you open the screen from the center not a corner, it flexes like crazy! I don't expect this laptop to last 6 years at my T42 has (I could sell it as "like new condition" now).

The X200s doesn't have the same lid though -- the WXGA+ ones have the carbon-fiber top case which is *very* flexible. While it is very, very susceptible to torsion it's at least very resistant to downward pressure when closedSubliming wrote: The X200 has a metal lid (and bottom) that is quite rigid. No flex. That sounds exactly like the X201s. Crazy susceptible to torsional stress but pretty solid still. It's a price I'm willing to pay for lightweight, it was just surprising.ThinkRob wrote:The X200s doesn't have the same lid though -- the WXGA+ ones have the carbon-fiber top case which is *very* flexible. I tried someone's idea that install the Windows 7 Utimate inestead of the original Win 7 home premium. Both speakers are working fine now! Glad the hardware has no issue.

I'm running a new Ultimate install, and don't have stereo working.
Also, it's mono in Linux as well.

Did you install all the drivers? and also try to go to the sound setting, test the hardware.mybellyisempty wrote:I'm running a new Ultimate install, and don't have stereo working.

Yeah, I did that. Even sent it into Lenovo (who sent it back without it being fixed...hopefully Ken@Lenovo is right about a fix being released shortly).
I've got the appropriate drivers, I've played with the mixer, I have left speaker only, no matter where I set the balance. If it were something simple, I'd have it fixed by now.

ohhh,
well I hope lenovo will release the new drivers asap. for mine the right was not working in win 7 home pre, somehow it works after i installed utimate version. anyway i think the right side speaker has no hardware issue otherwise the right one could be stanby when the left one is break.....

Can someone add to the lid flexing? Is it really an issue on the X201? Am in the market for one. Thanks.
