Cannot find fingerprint sensor device. (E7210005)

#1 Post by junkeeroo » Fri Mar 12, 2010 3:12 am

Hi All,

I did a Thinkvantage system update today with BIOS update as well as replacing the Norton Internet Crapware with AVG free and on reboot I no longer had the fingerprint sensor but instead get, "Cannot find fingerprint sensor device. (E7210005)" (I downloaded the FPR driver from an IBM link here and was then told that there was a compatibility issue on installation.)

Edit: After trying to reinstall the device with ThinkVantage Toolbox's Device Manager, I get the message from TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF Advanced Mode) Properties that the device status is:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

Any help appreciated...thanks from a noob.

SOLVED:

Opened: ThinkVantage Toolbox (TVT) > Diagnostics > Device Manager Alerts > Device Manager

Then from there to Biometric Devices > TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor > right click and Uninstall.

Back to: TVT > Diagnostics > System Tests > Quick Hardware Check (I think)

...this revealed that the TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor was not installed > choose option to fix/install.
