T410 - no brainer. Newer, faster, better specs in everything and looks far better as well.

The only reasons I can think of to prefer a T400 is if you absolutely cannot stand the new keyboard layout with large Esc/Del keys, or if you find the LCD lid rollcage very important (in the T410 the rollcage in the lid has been removed, although the body still has it).

Thank you.

Appreciate other suggestions.

Is new Nvidia NVS 3100 graphics better than ATI 3470?

Also there is missing mic jack but combo in 410.

What about LED? is it better?

The only thing in favor of the T400 is that you'll be able to get it for less money.

The other thing in favor of T400 is switchable graphics, I think.

With the T400, the docking port is the same as those found on previous T-series. The T410 docking port is not backwards-compatible with previous docking stations, so if you have accessories and docks from past ThinkPads, the T410 will not be able to use them.

Just a personal opinion, I really don't like how the T410 is getting more rounded; I would have preferred the truly boxy nature of the past ThinkPads (the R400 is more faithful in this respect than the T400). I really don't like the new fan grille either; it's rounded and HP/Dell looking.

The GREAT thing about the T410 is that the 6-cell sits flush within the body of the T410, whereas the T400's 6-cell sticks out of the back by an inch, which is rather annoying yet leads to nicer balance when carrying it vertically by a corner.
