Sleep/Suspend Fuction not available with Win7 on an X40?

#1 Post by virge » Fri Mar 12, 2010 5:02 pm

I have recently swapped out my Asus netbook for an X40. I put Windows 7 on there just to see how it would run. I have 1.5GB RAM and it seems to work just as well as XP. Only one complaint-- no suspend/sleep.

I assume this is because I do not have a Windows 7 driver for the GPU. Has anyone here been successful in finding a fix for this on X40?

Hello Virge,

Were you able to solve the standby/sleep problem? I have a friend with an A31 who has experienced the same problem after loading Windows XP on a new HDD.

You need to run the Windows Update and allow Windows to install "all" the updates.

Thanks, Bill. All updates were loaded. The Suspend option and functionality are still missing.

I find that I have to run Windows Update several times before all of the required drivers arrive.

Thanks again, Bill. Not sure what did it, but he activated Windows Update some more, made changes to some BIOS options, and some other things of which I did not make a note. He then tried it after doing all of the above. Bottom line, the Suspend Option and functionality is back, and he is "stoked" about it. There is a difference which I think reflects an upgrade to what he had before. When the lid is lifted and the screen comes back to life, the view is some sort of logon/logoff page showing his icon and the number of programs open. He said that previously, the system came back on where he was without a logon/logoff page. The new behavior sounds like what happens when I suspend and come back with Windows 7.
