i like the one: "You have an ID IO T error"..

ok, so there are going to be copyright issues if anyone makes and sells a "ThinkPad" T shirt..
usinf someone else's name for gain can generate the infamous "Lawyer Letter"..
having recieved one of those from IBM early in the thinkpads.com period i can attest that these are NO FUN..

however, that issue, with me, was settled long ago and i suppose i could make "thinkpads.com" T-shirts and/or "forum.thinkpads.com" T-shirts..

think anyone would go for one of those..?

I like the "I am a Linux kid!" shirt!
Is there a shirt that says "I am an XP kid!"?

I couldn't find an ThinkPad t-shirts, when I googled it it came up with stuff related to the ThinkPad T-series laptops!

Not sure I see the differences between putting it on a T-shirt vs. putting it on a banner at the top of this website?

Now, this is purely hypothetical... but I suppose that any individual could (in theory) use something like Zazzle.com to make their own shirts with whatever they like on them, maybe even using trademarks or copyrighted material! Now far be it form me to do anything but speculate, but I would have to guess, based on... data... that Zazzle doesn't screen all designs before printing, especially if you were to (again, hypothetically) do a one-off design, instead of publishing an item for public purchase.

That's *just a guess* though... I'd never have any first-hand knowledge of such mischief!

i THINK the former might be looked upon as a commercialization of someone else's name and advertising gimmick even if i HAVE substantially changed it while the latter is not a commercialization..

i'm no lawyer so further discussion of this is beyond my small abilities..

one might work, 100 might not..
i would not want to pay to print up 10, 100 or more T-shirts and find i can only use them for dusters and maybe to burn to keep warm next winter..

but you have started me thinking..

perhaps a "polo" or "golf" shirt with the logo from the banner in place of the little green aligator..?

or is the lower cost T-shirt the way to go..?

A golf type shirt with the logo and in small lettering 'forum.thinkpads.com' in a half circle at the bottom of the logo as a border would be awesome. May I suggest getting a dozen of each to start with and see which sells better, and what the demand is.

Thanks RBS!

Some of those shirts are pretty darn cute! I only came across the IBM logo but no Thinkpad :? I'm thinking of making up one or finding a pic and having CafePress make that shirt for me... or just find a graphics Tee shop in a nearby town to do one. I'd at least like one in various cuts and colors. Now all I have to do is find the Thinkpad graphics that will look nice on the T-shirt 8)

Not Thinkpad, but rather IBM:
http://logogear.americanid.com/
also: http://www.ioffer.com/i/New-IBM-T-Shirt-size-M-92387846 has the Rebus logo t-shirt.

Still looking for "Thinkpad" stuff. If you folks are going to make forum shirts, I'll take a t-shirt or Hooded sweatshirt in black.

All of us should honestly put our money where our mouth is and sign up, giving Bill an idea of how many could be sold.

I don't have a problem with ordering four or five at $25 a piece if they come out nice, and in more than one colour...

On a whole another note, whatever happened to "donate" button at the top of the page?

the donate button got lost in the transition to the new server..
phill kiff offered to edit the code and put it back and put the twitter button in a better location but i have been very busy with personal difficulties and to be honest either too tired or scared to break it if i start digging in the code..
not to mention i need to get back up to speed on editing it, where all the parts are and even remember the right passwords..

i need a price point and i really want a nice 100% cotton shirt..
under armour would cost way too much i'm afraid..

color..? any color you like as long as its thinkpad black.. 8)

25 USD seems very cheap for a decent, cotton polo shirt.

25 GBP would be cheap too.

May I lift the bidding to 50 USD or 33 GBP?

I've never heard of Under Armour (at least they spell it correctly ) but 50 USD seems right, IMO.

Who knows what the price would be here after shipping etc. Who cares ... it would be unusual if not unique.

I just googled Under Armour and they are based in Maryland but operate in the UK too. We learn something every day.

they make a good product, BUT..
read on their response..
Thank you for your interest in becoming an Under Armour Authorized Retailer. Attached you will find the New Account Inquiry form. Please fill out all fields and return the form, with pictures, to this email address. It will help prepare our Team to see if your store meets our requirements. Please note that this is not an application.

Due to the large number of inquiries that we receive, please allow 8 to 10 weeks for a response. Under Armour does not offer a discount for bulk/group/team orders. If you are making an one time bulk/group/team purchase, you may contact one of our Team Dealers that specializes in group sales. http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/f ... ore|Footer

In order to better service our existing customers and your potential partnership, we review completed surveys that meet all basic requirements.

It might be less costly to get some embroidered patches made.
That way everybody can get their own tee/polo/hoodie and have someone sew on the patch.

I particularly liked the "...have someone sew on the patch..." Good to see the art of delegation alive & well  I wouldn't know one end of a knitting needle from another - and I've just been told one would be unlikely to use a knitting needle for the task anyway, which either supports the idea of assigning tasks to those with the skills, or just shows how dumb I really am.

But on the general idea of shirts or whatever, sign me up !

There's probably a lot of artistic talent hidden amongst Forum members.
How about a design competition for the best TPF logo?
