Maxing out RAM on X20 - what a difference!

I finally upgraded my X20 from 192 MB to 320 MB yesterday. It's amazing what a difference the extra 128 MB make under Windows XP! It really got a lot zippier ...

If you haven't maxed out your memory this already, do yourself a favor and buy a 256 MB low-density SO-DIMM.

The easiest, cheapest and most noticeable "upgrade" anyone can perform on a laptop is to max out the memory.

Where did you buy the ram?

On eBay, for under $50. That's actually a good price for a 256 MB PC100 low-density stick. I planned to upgrade a while ago, but couldn't find anything for a decent price.

My X20 seems to be much faster, especially with a few apps open at the same time. Sure, the CPU is slow at 600 MHz, but besides that, the 12" XGA screen, 40 GB drive and the upgraded memory make the X20 *almost* an up-to-date machine ;-)
