X300, high idle CPU temp under Win7

#1 Post by al35 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 5:32 pm

Hi! I noticed that the CPU temperature is almost 10 degrees higher after I installed Windows 7 on my X300. In XP, idle temp was around 50C, in Win7 it's close to 60C. I'm running TPfan to keep the noise down, but I used the same TPfan parameters in XP and Win7. Anybody else notice this? How do you optimize Win7 to lower the temperature in idle?

Bump.
I'm sure people installed Windows 7 on X300. How hot does it run? Mine became very noisy since I installed Windows 7. How can I configure Windows 7 to reduce the CPU load? I already switched off aero, but it didn't help. I'd appreciate any advice!

I have no issues with Windows 7 on my X300. It runs like a dream.

One of the big things about Aero is that it gets rendered on the GPU. Turning it off will not help CPU load.

Thanks for the answer. Good, then there is hope that I can configure mine to run better.
Do you use TPfan? What is your usual CPU temperature in idle?
