T41 hangs when running off battery

I have a t41, and just recently, it has had an issue, where it hangs when it is running on battery, but only in windows. It just sits there, and the battery will continue to power the system untill it runs out, with whatever was on the screen still there. When running the pcdoctor tests, it works fine, running for 1:05, and not freezing at all. thinking it was the issue described at Thinkwiki, I downgraded the ec and bios to older versions. That fixed the problem for one cycle, at which point it started hanging again. The problem that I had with linux mint was that it would not start on battery, it would hard-reboot just after the grub bootloader was closed.

I do not know if it is related, but the southbridge problems have started occuring, namely the usb2.0, but (thankfully) it is only happening once and a while.

Hanging and freezing are quite often associated with a failing Southbridge...

I am graduating from High school at the end of this year, and I have already had the gpu reballed. Since I will get a new laptop (thinkpad) for university, I don't really see the point of spending more money on this system. If it dies outright, I will just use the dell in my sig.
