How do you re intialize the wifi conection

#1 Post by vilasman » Sun Mar 21, 2010 9:01 pm

I have managed to screw up the wifi and my lenovo's. Both the S10 and the T60. I have upgraded the BIOS to 2.5. With the T60... if I let it sit for awhile it closes the connection to my home wifi router. When I hit refresh wifi locations the only one that appears is the one that tethers to my phone. No matter how many times I refresh that is the only connection that shows up.
If I restart the computer it will connect to my home wifi router. It will stay connected as long as I am on doing something with it,but if I let it sit all day or over night, it disconnects.

The S10. I had a bit defender trial in the computer, because I while I normally use system mechanic, I couldn't get it to work because the wife dosen't update or allow her computer to update the anti-virus and her, this computer got slooooooowwwwww .
I tried to get the bit defender out with REVO uninstaller and now the wifi wont connect, well it connects but it wont transmit or receive. It just says limited or no connectivity. It did say that it was firewalled at first but then I turned off the firewall.

So how do I fix this?

Welcome to the forum.

First, tell us the 7-diget(?) model number. Then try to upgade the drivers, especially if it is an intel card. I have found that the new intel drivers have more features and are more dependable than the Lenovo/ibm.

Good luck.

The S10 seems to be working now i took the wifi driver out and let it re install and then ran the troubleshooter thing and it reinstalled the winsock adapter.
I also re installed bitdefender and then un installed it.

I also took the wifi driver out of the T60 and let it re install itself and it seems to be working. Now to make system mechanic work on both of them

A good free AV protection can be had by installing MS Windows Essentials, together with PCTools Threatfire.
