S-video on T60p

#1 Post by lobbleton » Mon Mar 22, 2010 5:23 am

Is there any way to do it without using a video box of some sort? I would like high quality s-video output.

Is it possible to do a hard mod for s-video?

Yeah I saw that mentioned in the forums. It's quite a bit for s-video.

Is the thing massively huge? Would I look like a clown walking around with that under my arm connected to my t60p?

Let's ignore for a second that there is not such thing as 'high quality s-video output', since s-video inherently is pretty much the lowest-quality video signal you can get.

Unfortunately, since the internal graphics adapters on the T60 (whether Intel or ATI) don't have TV-out pinouts, and there is not s-video port on the machine, the only solution is, as mentioned, a dock and an external video card.

Yes, the dock is huge, and it's completely not designed to be carried around. It's like carrying a desktop PC.

If you absolutely need S-video, and don't want an external converter, forget the T6x, and get a 15" R6x or a Z6x.

It won't work, because T60 does not have what specifically is mentioned in the requirements.
Make sure your VGA card has TV-Out function to use the product

I assume your T60 has VGA out. VGA is much better than S-Video. I have used both with my T42, so I have experience with this. Many flatscreen TV's (and monitors) these days have a VGA in port.

I wanted S-Video so I can use the t60p as a video player at people's houses that don't have a computer.

You need a converter.
For example this good quality thing or cheaper one on ebay.
