T42P Hibernation "not really disabled"

#1 Post by Marc_G » Sun Feb 27, 2005 1:02 pm

Hi folks-

I've noticed an interesting thing about my T42P: when I do image backups of the system drive, I turn off hibernation (in the Thinkpad Configuration Utility) so that the 1.5 GB hiberfil.sys goes away, reducing the image size of the backup.

However, it's not really disabled, as pressing Fn-F12 will cause the system to recreate the hiberfil.sys and hibernate normally.

I kind of like this operation, but found it a bit surprising. Thought I'd pass it along.
