Rebuilding my T60
Rebuilding my T60
I have installed the 2.5 BIOS. Now my computer is complaining that the TCP/IP is not present. I have a XP Pro SP2 install disc. My question is, If I want to wipe my hard drive and re install XP and all of the lenovo customizations for this computer... how do I do it? How do I get all of the customizations in to the puter?
Re: Rebuilding my T60
I think you are asking how do you get your T60 loaded like it was from the factory. The answer is to purchase and load T60 recovery discs.

Re: Rebuilding my T60
You should be able to burn the recovery discs of if you've not done so already. If you have the recovery partition you can do it that way as well. Neither of those will cost you anything.

Re: Rebuilding my T60
I will have to check my the HD that came in this puter and see if it has a recovery partition.
I have a good XP pro install disc with a valid serial number...
I have also installed the latest BIOS for this computer
My computer has the following issues.
1. The wifi is not working correctly. Sometimes I can use it for 2-3 hours and then it will disconnect and it wont even see any wifi networks. There are 2 in my house. Other times it wont see the wifi adapter at all. If I restart a few times it will finally see the adapter. Other times it will see the wifi adapter but I will get the limited or no connectivity message. There are times that the the ethernet connection wont work either. At other times the connections will say connected but firewalled on the connections page.
Yes I am having series issues with my anti-virus program. I have uninstalled re-installed, contacted tech support, did their un install reinstall sequence and it still wont act right
2. I get a message saying the TPM service isn't working right... and the message says it maybe a problem with the anti-virus
3. there is also a PCI adapter that isnt acting right. I ran the program, that someone recommended a few days ago that would search the computer for missing drivers. It found one I installed it and I still get the missing driver message and the dialogue box that ask if I want to search for the missing driver or do i have a disc
I should know the answer to this question but it has been 20 years since I was in engineering school.
I know you have the computer hardware. I am assuming that is ok. I know I have the operating system...XP
I know there is the BIOS...which I upgraded
And I know I have my software
Is there any other software or programing code needed to make my puter run. Or in other words. If i reformat my drive and do a fresh install of XP and re-update my BIOS should I have a perfectly functioning computer albeit with no software in it?

Re: Rebuilding my T60
If yours is a retail Windows version, you'd be better off getting the Recovery CDs.
Those include all the required IBM/Lenovo drivers and programs.
After the installatioo the wifi card may still be a bone of contention, as these do break down.
Replacing it may solve your problem (if it still arises).
Reflashing the BIOS won't help, because you have already the latest version.
OTOH: install XP/SP3, many issues can be solved that way.
What AV are you using?

Bad choice to install such an "all-in-one" package.
Never even heard of them in an AV capacity, I doubt if they are any good...
If you can, keep the original "Mechanics" part, and uninstall the rest.
Then install the (free) Windows Security Essentials and PC-Tool's Threatfire.
Between them, they protect you more than adequate.

Can I simply swap out my T5500 CPU in my 1953CTO T60 with a T5600? Or my T2400 core duo in my 2623D6U T60?
