t510 touchpad issues

#1 Post by TLdAnon » Sun Mar 28, 2010 8:39 pm

I think I read somewhere that I could customize the size of the scrollbars widths. Yeh?

I don't know if maybe my finger is too fat (lol) or what but, when I try to scroll down or across, I think my computer has a hard time feeling my finger on the line and it won't scroll.

Does anyone have any idea about this? I'm also having trouble with the multi-touch. It seems to take a few tries before it recognizes that I have a couple fingers on the pad and again, won't scroll (or zoom).

I'm pretty sure the sensitivities and ignore zones can be changed on the T510 (unless they chose to feature-regress like charging thresholds :??: ) the same way as it can on my T400.

Press Fn+F8 and choose "Manage Settings" (alternatively, type Mouse in the search box of the start menu)
Choose the UltraNav tab and click Settings for the touchpad.

There you'll find a variety of sensitivity and scroll zone options.

In particular, turn down the PalmCheck sensitivity; it might be confused sometimes and ignores the action.
Also, the most annoying feature that I find is enabled by default for some reason is "Edge tap filtering". After disabling it, I had much less trouble with the corner tap zones (which I use to control Winamp :P)

Thats excellent! Thanks so much, O'Neill! I found a tonne of options there that I hadn't seen before.

After an update my T510 touchpad (ultranav) wouldn't allow me to scroll easily. Neither the multi touch or single finger scrolls were responsive. It would take several attempts before it would work, and I couldn't find anything on the internet to suggest it was a driver fault.

Solution is first

Choose the UltraNav tab and click Settings for the touchpad.
Then in the settings click on "UltraNav" to bring up the two input devices. Select "Settings" and you'll see another screen with lots of options; the ones we're after are "Smart Check Settings". Expand this and:

PalmCheck - reduce down the detection level.
Scrolling Region Filtering - Switch off.
Gesture Filtering - Switch off.

Once these settings were changed my touchpad was usable again!
