#1 Post by jwid » Mon Mar 29, 2010 3:02 am

is there a working driver for this keyboard to run in win7 x64????????

can somebody help me getting this keyboard to work on this os????????

has this keyboard become a legacy lenovo device already??????? Lenovo hasn't updated its driver since manufacture discontinuation

a workaround suggested by GomJabbar for vista no longer work in win7

sorry for the frustration getting this plastic to work, spent too much time with no result

Can't help you with the driver but in case you're looking for an external ThinkPad keyboard, the new ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint works in Windows 7 64bit (typing on it right now). Maybe you want to get that instead.

so sad to know that users are forced to throw the not-that-old keyboard into the garbage bin if they are running win7. And have to buy a new one that has no trackpad

I am using a travel ultranav keyboard (FRU p/n:41A5190) with an X41T running Win7 Pro. I am using the drivers for Vista. The drivers can be downloaded from here:

Hope this helps.

Hi mklym, thanks for your support
i do have the same driver like the one you suggested, but in my case installing the driver gives this result:
1. thinkpad touchpad scroll function not working
2. external keyboard touchpad scroll function not working either
3. no ultranav tab in mouse setting control panel, in fact, mouse setting is crashing upon being open each time
i have tried. if the driver works on your win 7, is there any particular step-by-step order in installing process?

Hi jwid,

I installed the ultranav driver first, then the hotkey driver. I installed them as 'Administrator'.
In the mouse properties, I have both a 'TrackPoint' and 'USB UltraNav' tabs.
Try re-installing the drivers?

Hopefully there'll eventually be some solution... One of the reasons I give people for favoring Lenovo/Thinkpad, is the fantastic long term support. Sometimes ridiculously long term support. If this were really going away, I'd stop telling others to buy the brand, even though I might keep buying used myself for awhile as long as there's good community and Linux support.
Moved to Chrome OS, so... SK-8855 USB Keyboard

i will try reinstalling them, but do i have to set the compatibility to 'vista/xp/anything' in the properties before installing as 'admin'?

cheers

I did not have to install in compatibility mode, but if you still have problems after a re-install, it would not hurt to try it.

i tried to installing both drivers above, i get the this result up clicking the setup files:
'could not find os specific setup program'
i guess i'm about to give up and it just sucks

thanks a bunch for taking the time help solving the problem mate, but i guess lenovo just doesn't provide a decent driver for this particular keyboard in win7 x64, maybe they couldn't care less, who knows. :(

I have XP and I just bought the keyboard. I dont get ANY of these tabs. In fact to install the Ultranav driver, I had to uninstall the 'more recent' driver I had on my thinkpad.

Can you please highlight which drivers you had installed and in what order? (Also WHEN you installed it... would also help to know.. since you might have installed varying driver versions).

Which OS... Win XP / Vista / 7... which Service Pack XP Sp1 / Sp2 / SP3.

The order in which you got this working would be great to know.

Please let me know. Thanks.

Also, my user name is an Admin / has Admin privileges... would that work.. or do I have to install specifically as the user 'Administrator'? Did you do that my logging in as that.. or "Run as.." Administrator ?

Please do share specifics :)
