T61 - Bluetooth On/Off - Without the software

Weird topic i know - Anyways, i'm wondering if it's possible to turn the BT functions on and off using just FN + F5 like you can on the T60.

I'm a weird guy so i clean install Windows on my machine - currently using Windows 7. It detects and installs the standard software pack by default but i can't turn it off by just pressing the FN combo anymore? I don't want to have to install tons of software just to turn on/off BT once in a while. The switch will ofcourse turn off ALL wireless connections which doesn't help. I want wifi to be on and BT on or off sometimes.

If i gotta install the software just to do that then i guess but please tell me i'm not missing something. Doing that key combo on my old T60 would sorta "eject" (you hear the USB eject sound) the BT till it's pressed again then it's active again.

Not sure which model you got WIN7 , but you can JUST INSTALL a small(tiny) Lenovo/IBM software called "hotkey' and it will help you turn ON and OFF via FN + F5. This will give you the "volume' bars and the famous FnF5 Menu only.
I am kinda like you - I hate JUNK on laptops and 100s of useless services and prod running in background!!

AFAIK you also need the Power Management Driver and System Interface Driver for the HotKey Utility to work correctly. That's still a small piece of useful software.

I went ahead and installed the hotkey driver, oddly enough it didn't show me anything about what i wanted (which is why i didn't install it before as i thought that might work) even when i was installing it, the options were onscreen display and the magifying thing (definitely unchecked that). Oddly enough it works like a charm (without installing the System Interface Driver) using the default Windows 7 drivers for WIFI and BT.



I was hoping to do without the extra software but i kinda like it anyways. What's weird about it tho is that the OSD doesn't work, but i don't need that at all.

The Power Management Driver always gets installed - they have it on Windows Update but i generally install the latest version 1.60 from Lenovo and manually install that first thing after formatting. Without that i have the unknown device in my device manager and that would drive me nuts
