openSUSE X31 WiFi problem

#1 Post by jonsteck » Thu Apr 01, 2010 8:29 am

I have openSUSE 11.2 KDE installed on my X31 and it mostly works great.
I love running linux on this thing but I have one major problem.
I can't get the WiFi to work properly.
I have gone through all the diagnostics and everything looks good.
The card is recognized and the driver installed.
The problem looks like the network manager doesn't know how to turn the card on.
The WiFi light does not come on and the Fn F5 does not turn it on.
How is the WiFi card normally turned on and off?
Is there a way I can do this manually?
Is there a way to get the Fn F5 key to work?

Thanks for any help

Had similiar problem - have to boot up then turn off wifi switch and then turn it back on again, then all is ok. Hope you have switch and it works for you.

By switch are you talking a hardware switch?
The X31 does not have a hardware switch just the Fn F5 to turn the Wifi on and off.

Thanks
Jon
