My x40's ethernet port has convinced me to finally replace the laptop. I know what I want (x201s), but I'm unsure whether to wait for a serious sale. I noticed that the friends+family site offers 10-15% off (same as the visa portal), and the usual coupon sites don't show any activity for the x201s. Should I expect something in the near future? Or should I just buy now with the 10% off? Can I use family+friends (or the visa portal) with their price protection plan?
It could be helpful to browse through expired coupons to see how often/what kind of action the x201s gets from sales -- but I can't find that either.
Buy or wait on x201s?

There will always be better deals come around. The rule of thumb is that if you need it now, buy it now, otherwise, wait.Goetterdaemmerung wrote:My x40's ethernet port has convinced me to finally replace the laptop. Woe is me, ship date of 6/19/2010. Looks like lenovo is out of i7-640LM cpus. Well, it gives me plenty of time to apply price protection from future sales!

Most of the time you will get the machine a lot earlier than their estimated ship date (at most one or two months after ordering). You can also call them up to see if they can speed up the process for you.Goetterdaemmerung wrote:Woe is me, ship date of 6/19/2010. Looks like lenovo is out of i7-640LM cpus. Congrats on your purchase, by the way. Mind telling us the config?
