What can you folks tell me about this video adapter? I am thinking about ordering a 18714BU. The specs don't say how much ram this adapter has.

It's fine if you just intend to use your machine for general work, internet use etc. I personally would like a bit of oomph but it really depends on your needs.....

so you can get the x300. I'd like to know if the x300 is the "best" video chip that is going to be in the new T43 line. And when the better T43 models will be available.

The X600 / FireGL V3200 is available on some models such as T43p. The T43p models should be available in April.
