X61 Change Cardbus to ExpressCard slot

#1 Post by cube2 » Tue Apr 06, 2010 5:23 am

My X61 got a Cardbus slot but i would like to have a ExpressCard slot instead because my Asus XG station run on ExpressCard. Is it possible to change/convert the Cardbus slot to a Expresscard slot in any way?

It's a 7673-CN2

AFAIK, there are adapters, but they only work for USB-based Expresscards. The XG Station, if I'm not mistaken, utilizes the PCIe interface, so it will not work with the X61.

I'm not really looking for a adapter, i was thinking if it was possible to change the computer so it would become a Expresscard slot instead of Cardbus

USB to DVI adaptor works well. You can have more than 2 external screens even!
A guy I work with did exactly that with his Dell.
