T61 gray screen when I turn it on.

Was having issues with my screen going gray but working sporadically. I thought it was the video cable in the unit so I replaced that and now it is always gray.

What do you think is going on?

Is the cable i replaced it with bad as well?

Is the lcd board bad?

is the video chip bad?

If the screen is a light gray, it usually means the cable is not plugged into the back of the lcd completely

yes it is but it is snug in there. I'm thinking that the cable might just be bad.

should I tell the ebay seller I think the cable they sold is bad?

It could be the cable, but it is unlikely. I have only ever seen one cable damaged enough that no colors worked, and there was an obvious crack in that one. If you were having problems before with the screen being gray sometimes, it seems more likely that you have a bad connection in the panel that was made worse when you took the lid apart.

That's my guess, but without seeing it, it's just a guess
