Hi!
I got T43 2668 with 1.86ghz CPU and 2GB RAM.
T43 started doing constant beeps(you know, the system busy or 3 keys pressed at once), mouse and KB was unresponsive. I had to do hard power off by button. Next boot BIOS screen was on for a while and I got error message 'No operation system found'. Shortly after removing and reinstalling HDD it was able to boot, but mouse cursor and sometimes POST RAM test was jerky(stopped for second-few) and continued.
PC Doctor found no errors, fujitsu hard drive diagnostics utility found no errors.
I tried other keyboard and touchpad-palmrest, reinstalled heatsink, removed CMOS battery for a while, tried running the computer without WiFi card.
It is not windows issue either, I tried reinstalling, but the system hangs just too much.
Thinkpad has had USB port over current error message for a few months, but I barely used them anyways and kept 'em disabled.
Sometimes it works perfectly for few moments and then it starts to mess around again.
Any ideas?

Re: T43 hanging and jerky
Welcome to the forum!
Your T43 has a failing Southbridge chip which is a common problem on these machines.
The chip can be re-balled, or the motherboard replaced entirely.
Good luck.
