CSS question for web developers

#1 Post by npish » Sun Apr 11, 2010 6:14 am

I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction here; I realize this is not a developers' forum, but I've gotten such great info/advice on a number of diverse topics from this board, I figured I'd try to tap the knowledge of any web developers here.

Basically I'd like to create a simple web gallery like the one shown here-- http://monc.se/kitchen/stew/gallery/ -- with thumbnails on the left and a "stage" on the right to display full-size counterparts, but I'd like to do so purely in CSS if possible, i.e. without JavaScript, as I'd like to create my own thumbnails whereas this example uses the full-size versions to create the thumbs via the script. I'd also like to avoid having to use an iframe if possible.

Thanks much for any advice.

** I'll update this post by including the following link as a reference: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/imagegallery/
This basic gallery of course uses a small script-- view example towards bottom of page--, which I realize may be unavoidable... but the example is close to what I'm looking for, although I'd use images instead of text links; if only there were a way to format the caption text...
