True Image WD Edition

#1 Post by dlbeaty » Mon Apr 12, 2010 7:58 am

Since I have been considering the WD Scorpio Blue 250 Gb drive, I saw the free download of this version of True Image on their site.

Has anyone used this version, or do you have any recommendations as to this version vs the retail version? Since the drive is only $80, I thought it might be worth it for the software.

However, Amazon reviewers had little praise for the supplied software. Perhaps they didn't have the downloaded True Image.

It is based on the 2009 version. But often I have found that the newest versions often become overbloated and offer extras that I do not need. All I want to do is to be able to back up my x32 and be able to clone the entire drive with the service partition to a new drive via the Ultrabay HD enclosure in the x3 media slice.

Then I hope I could boot up to a usb CD and be able access the additional HD before Windows if needed.

Yesterday I migrated to the WD2500beve with the free TI software without a hitch. I like the interface, but the limitations include not backing up specific files or directories.

Also, I created a Boot CD, but when I tested it the screen froze a the point of searching for a WD drive. Strange, for the main drive was the new WD.

Looks like I might want to purchase at least version 9 if I can find an unused copy available.

I have a WD in my desktop and used the WD True Image. It worked fine for me.
